Letter to Department of Labour

Date: 14-12-2010.

The Commissioner,
Department of Labour,
State of A.P., Hyderabad.

We are concerned for the welfare of thousands of Cine Workers and their families which are very badly affected by the declaration of producers and the federation to stop the shootings of Telugu feature films.

The happenings on the film industry for the past few days made us to feel that the government and its agencies are absolutely not concerned with their problems. Neither, the Minister for Cinematography, Managing Director of APSFTDC, Minister for Labour or your good self have not initiated any dialogue to settle the disputes between the cine workers and the producers.

Unfortunately, the people in the industry, more particularly the producers who are in the shoes of employers are taking decisions arbitrarily, with the result thousands of cine workers and their families are starving without any work.It is for your information that Sec.3 of The Cine Workers and Cinema Theatre Workers (Regulation of Employment) Act, 1981 is not being implemented and the cine workers are not able to insist for the same.

We, therefore, request your good self to intervene, summon both the parties (producers and workers) and settle the dispute and save thousands of cine workers and their families.

Thanking you.

Sincerely Yours,

(C.V.L. Narasimha Rao).
