Lok Satta welcomes Yashpal report

PDFPrintE-mail

The Lok Satta Party today welcomed the recommendations of the Yashpal Committee on rejuvenating the education system at all levels since the continuation of the status quo is harmful.

Talking to the media party spokespersons Mr. D. V. V. S. Varma, and Mrs. Gita Murthy, , pointed out that there are today a number of regulatory agencies like the UGC and AICTE. Replacement of these multiple agencies by a single national commission in charge of education and research as recommended by the Yashpal Committee is most welcome.

The Lok Satta Party also welcomed the conduct of a national entrance examination for admission to university courses in place of entrance tests by various State level boards.

The party regretted that the Union Human Resources Development Ministry triggered confusion by talking of making Class X examination optional since it did not form part of the Yashpal Committee report.
