MEDIA RELEASE
(NEW DELHI, 17 DECEMBER 2012)

EAST DELHI LOCALITIES ARE A TINDER BOX – PART II

It has been brought to our notice that Over head Tanks(OHT) in various localities of east delhi are in a bad shape.

But we always wait for calamities to happen, then pay lip sympathies and small compensation to the victims or their families and close the chapter. Nothing will appear next day till yet another calamity happens which will become 'juicy news' to media and arrange visit of leaders to the spots and declare some thing which will never be followed!

One of the worst calamities awaiting to happen in East Delhi is not only the ones which are happening now and reported in newspapers but when the 'outlived/unused Overhead tanks over a long period of time sprawling in various residential localities, demolition of which has been urged upon on the authorities concerned (DJB), time and again, but no tangible action appears to have been taken so far. No communications are replied to and progress made not apprised of to the RWAs. Let's wait for the 'big calamity' to happen and it becomes a 'big news' for media and an opportunity to 'leaders' to speak! We only plan everything on the 'drawing boards' but never take practical and expeditious action at the ground level. The OHT at Anand Vihar is an outstanding example to site! Commented Shri Anurag Kejriwal – State President of Lok Satta Party

Shri Anurag Kejriwal – State President Lok Satta Party has received representation from Anand Vihar RWA who have informed us of the bad condition of OHT’s which is a dangerous accident waiting to happen.

We hope MCD and state government takes immediate steps in restoring the safety of citizens lest a major accident happens and hundreds loose their lives.
